HEADstrong Lacrosse South Jersey is hosting a FREE Boys Recreational Lacrosse Coaches Clinic on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at Total Turf in Pitman, NJ from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A panel of local specialists has been assembled to share their insight on a variety of pertinent topics sure to come up this season. Coaches from all youth levels are invited to attend. Details are listed below and to reserve a spot, please complete the registration.

6:00pm to 6:05pm - Program Kicks Off
6:05pm to 6:45pm - Chris Bates: “Offense 101”
Head Coach for PLL Archers in the Premier Lacrosse League and The Episcopal Academy Boys Lacrosse. Coach Bates was previously the Head Lacrosse Coach at Princeton University and Drexel University. Bates is a 1990 graduate of Dartmouth, where he played attack and midfield and earned All-Ivy League honors. Bates played in the North-South all-star game after his senior year and graduated with a degree in Psychology before earning a Master's in Education from North Carolina. He played for eight seasons in the Major Indoor Lacrosse League (now the National Lacrosse League) and won three championships with the Philadelphia Wings while earning all-pro honors in his one season with the Charlotte Cobras.
6:45pm to 7:15pm - Josh Hanlon: "Developing Complete Defenders”
Head Coach For Washington Township High School lacrosse. Coach Hanlon was also the Head Lacrosse Coach at Neshaminy High School (PA) from 2006-2012, where he was nominated as the 2008 Suburban One Coach of the Year. Additionally, Hanlon served as the Head Coach for Team Philadelphia in the National Lacrosse Classic in 2008-09. Hanlon is a former McDaniel College Defenseman who excelled on the field. He is a 2x NCAA All-American, 3x First Team Centennial Conference player, 3x First Team ECAC South Region selection, played in the 2004 STX/USILA North-South Game and was named to the Centennial Conference Silver Anniversary Team. In 2016, he was inducted into the McDaniel College Sports Hall of Fame.
7:15pm – 7:45pm - Chris Collins: "Proper Stance, Technique & Drills For Goalies”
Chris Collins is an American professional lacrosse goaltender formerly of the Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League (NLL). Before joining the professional ranks, Collins attended the University of Delaware. He was a three-year starter, a three-time captain, and earned All American honors in 2005. He also landed himself on the Blue Hens 60th Anniversary Team and the Colonial Athletic Association's (CAA) 25th Anniversary Team. In 2015, Collins was a member of Team USA at the World Indoor Lacrosse Championships where he helped secure a Bronze Medal finish as well as earning the tournaments highest save percentage. Collins' pro career began in 2006 and has had several stops along the way with MLL teams (Chesapeake Bayhawks and Chicago Machine) and NLL teams (New York Titans, Philadelphia Wings, New England Black Wolves) but most recently a return to Philadelphia with the expansion Wings.
7:45pm – 8:30pm - Mike Gurenlian: "Face-Off Warm Up, Stance, Moves, Counters, Drills”
Mike Gurenlian is the Director of Coaching for The Face Off Academy (FOA) in Philadelphia and South Jersey. In this position, Mike operates FOA events throughout the year such as the National Faceoff Showcases, Draw Days, camps and clinics. On the field, Mike set records while playing for Cabrini Men’s Lacrosse, finishing first all-time in program history in career face-off wins (367). He owns the second-most face-off wins in a single-season with 169 in 2010. In 2011, He won 107-of-191 face-off attempts becoming the program's all-time leader in career face-off victories with a 13-for-15 performance at Immaculata University while tallying 35 groundballs. In 2010, He earned CSAC First Team honors, received ECAC Metro/South Region All-Star Third Team distinction and led the team with 169 face-off wins, the second-highest single-season total in program history. He was ranked sixth in the nation and led Cabrini with a .679 face-off win percentage.
8:30pm to 8:55pm - Tom Sinnott, "SJYLAX Rules Must Knows and 2020 Changes"
Tom Sinnott is the Director of Sports Operations at the HEADstrong Foundation. In this position, Tom manages the various sport focused activities and teams under the HEADstrong umbrella, including boys and girls club lacrosse teams throughout Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey. Prior to this role, Tom was a Recreational Leader for the City of Philadelphia’s Parks and Recreation Department, fostering community engagement and growth through sports. He also previously served as a Lacrosse Event and League Director for NXTsports, a Philadelphia based youth sports management company. Finally, Tom spent the last 8 years as an Official for the PIAA, with certifications to officiate both football and lacrosse. He is extremely well-versed in the 2020 Rule Changes and how they will affect the pace of play this upcoming season.
